Privacy, by design
retop does not upload your files. All processing happens in your browser. No accounts, no cookies, no tracking.
What happens with your STL file
When you drop a file, it is loaded into your browser's memory using FileReader. The parser, simplifier and viewer all run as JavaScript / WebGL on your machine. The resulting STL is handed back to you as a browser download using Blob and URL.createObjectURL. Nothing is sent to our server.
You can verify this: open your browser's Developer Tools → Network tab, process any file, and you will see zero outbound requests related to the file content.
What our server sees
Our server serves static files: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, fonts. Standard web access logs (IP, user agent, request path) are retained for 72 hours purely for abuse mitigation (DDoS, scrapers), then rotated out. No analytics scripts, no third-party trackers, no fingerprinting.
Cookies
None. retop uses localStorage only to remember your UI preferences (dark/light theme, last used ratio) locally in your browser.
